Currently reading: Pininfarina roadster is go?

Pininfarina is on the verge of launching a revised version of its Enjoy concept car, shown here for the first time, with a run of just 75 cars. The Italian coachbuilder celebrates its 75th anniversary next year, and should confirm the commemorative production run once the car has completed a world tour that ends at September’s Paris Motor Show.

Stops in Tokyo and Singapore are also planned, following the production-feasible car’s debut at the Louis Vuitton Classic in the UK last week. Prices haven’t been set, but insiders claim the figure would be in the region of £70k.

Although the Enjoy is based on an Elise chassis, Lotus says it will have no direct input into the ride and handling. The Italians are taking responsibility for the full set-up, including suspension geometry, and are even considering moving component mounting points to change the dimensions.

Power comes from the same mid-mounted Toyota engine used in the new Elise 111R, which means 189bhp, 0-62mph in around 5.2sec and a claimed top speed in the region of 155mph.

The original concept that made its debut at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show has been restyled, with significant changes to the front and rear bodywork to make the car suitable for road use.

The lavish interior has been designed in partnership with Louis Vuitton, and developed at Pininfarina’s recently acquired facility at Matra Automobile in France, which would also house production if the project gets the green light.
